(二)林业在国民经济中的地位
　　巴西林业在国家经济发展中占有比较重要的地位。主要表现在：巴西拥有丰富的森林资源，它给巴西人民提供了良好的生态环境；林业产值约占巴西国内生产总值的3％～4％；1996年，巴西原木产量为2.28亿m3，锯材产量为1 909万m3，木炭产量为1.35亿m3，居世界第4位，人造板产量为355.8万m3。木纸浆为629.2万t，纸和纸板为588.5万t，林产品出口创汇36亿美元；林业产业每年可为巴西提供60万个直接就业机会，还有100万就业人员从事与林业有关的工作，其税收值约为17亿美元。
