Thats great stuff! I did some quick experimentation with Agg and GR32 myself
some time ago - I just updated the stuff and zipped it (see attachment). Its
a very simple quick and dirty conversion of the TAgg2D api stuff from the
AggPas website - dunno if its for much help really, but it shows how easy it
is to use AggPas with GR32 (I think I used an hour or so on the conversion
and &research&).
Since GR32 uses several ordinal map types, it would be cool if we could
somehow make AGG canvases for those supported in Agg (RGBA32 for TBitmap32,
Gray8 for TByteMap, Gray16 for TWordMap and TIntegerMap).
Furter &integration& could be to make some AGGdrawing wrapping layer types
(should not be very difficult), GR32 transformation classes that wraps the
AGG transformations (though we have some functional overlap here, Agg
differs in how it implements some of them), and perhaps some integration of
the Agg controls (though I don't really fancy that solution much). Maybe
also a an alternative replacement polygon class based on AGG could be
I think AGG is a great addendum to GR32. I've seen several discussions about
the difference btwn GR32 and AGG, where people compare the two libs
directly - I don't think thats the right perspective on things: GR32 is more
about delivering a tight, consistent and fast framework for working with
layers, blending and transformations. While it does contain primitive
drawing routines (which ought to be extended), it has never been the strong
side of the lib (what we have though is well optimized!), and this is where
I think AGG comes into play: AGG is much more concerned with
drawing/rendering, but the &framework& is almost non existent and its low
level style of design makes its learning curve quite steep and integration
in normal delphi style workflow somewhat awkward.
A set of AGG wrapping classes that honours the GR32 design would really be
great, and what you started on there looks great!
