CUHK Wi-Fi Service (SSID=CUHK) - iPhone/iPod Touch with firmware 2.x
This document describes how to connect to CUHK Wi-Fi Service (SSID=CUHK) using iPhone and iPod Touch with firmware 2.x.
Getting Connected to CUHK Wi-Fi Service
CUHK VPN Connection (Note: For users who need a secure network connection)
I. (one-time installation)
Getting Connected to CUHK Wi-Fi Service
I. Detect a CUHK Hotspot Connection
1. From the screen, select Settings
Then click to switch on
Wi-Fi function .
2. From the list Choose a Network..., select CUHK.
II. Connect to CUHK Wi-Fi Service
1. Open Safari and visit any webpage e.g. The HKSAR page at
By default, you can browse CUHK homepage at
even though you have not yet login to the Wi-Fi service.
A screen of Use Policies and Guidelines of CUHK Wi-Fi Service will be prompted.
2. Click Accept to continue.
c. At "Login to CUHK Wi-Fi Service" page, enter your Computing ID and your CWEM password, then click Log In.
4. A window showing &Login successful& will pop up.
And you may enjoy CUHK Wi-Fi service from now on.
III. Disconnect from CUHK Wi-Fi Service
2. Click logout when you want to terminate your CUHK Wi-Fi Connection.
pop-window will then show &Logout Successful& upon termination of a connection.
CUHK VPN Connection (Note: For users who need a secure network connection)
I. Install CUHK VPN Connection
(one-time installation)
1. Open Safari
and visit .
From the Install Profile of CUHK IPSec VPN Connection, click Install.
3. An alert message will pop up. Click Install Now.
4. If the iPhone/iPhone Touch is passcode protected, it will ask you to enter the passcode.
5.Enter your Campus-Wide E-Mail (CWEM) Computing ID as the username.
Then click Next.
5. Enter your Campus-Wide E-Mail (CWEM) Password.
Then click Next.
6. Click Done to finish the installation.
II. Enable CUHK VPN Connection
a. From the screen, select Settings
Then click to enable
VPN connection.
* You would not be prompted for password here since you have previously entered it during the installation of this VPN connection.
